Water feature maintenance

Botanica products
Due to the huge variety and sizes of water features available and their locations
We can only cover the basics required

  • A water feature is a bit like a swimming pool you need to keep the water clean and topped up.
  • Avoid positioning water features where they are likely to accumulate a lot of leaves and dirt. A shady spot also reduces the risk algae
  • Botanica water features usually have an flat external stainless sieve built into the pump cover where leaves accumulate and are easily removed.
Do this once a week or as needed
  • If the water goes off colour you can add bleach in the quantity of 100mls for
every 100 liters of water every 5 days or so or as needed.
Or buy an algaecide and use per instructions
  • Once a year usually in early spring siphon all the water out of your water feature. Then remove the pump cover and scrub clean any sediment off the pump and the basin of the water feature. Use a strong mixture of algaecide.
  • You can clean the non water surfaces of your water feature buy scrubbing them with a light brush using a 50/50 mixture of water and pool acid (use gloves)

Tips
1.Remember to advise your insurers that you have a water feature with an electric
Pump. Pumps are getting expensive to replace and are often damaged by lighting or power surges
